Today’s readings are Psalm 66-70 and Proverbs 14. The Psalms contain a verse that I have loved since I first read it 25 years ago. Psalm 68:19.
“Blessed be the Lord, who daily loadeth us with benefits, even the God of our salvation. Selah.”
Oh, how the Lord loves to heap blessings upon his children. He is our heavenly Father, after all. What father would give his child a stone when they ask for bread? Not God the Father. He told Israel,
“For I know the thoughts that I think toward you, saith the Lord, thoughts of peace, and not of evil, to give you an expected end. Then you shall call upon me, and ye shall go and pray unto me, and I will hearken to you, and ye shall seek me, and find me, when ye search for me with all your heart.” (Jeremiah 29:11-13)
That word applies to us today just as much as it did to Israel back then. That’s because as believers, we have been grafted into the vine, making us part of Israel by Jesus Christ who is in us. Jesus himself said, “ask and you shall receive.” It is God’s will and his pleasure to “daily load” his children with benefits as they seek his face. So seek him today. Search the scriptures for all of the verses about asking and receiving. There are several, but I won’t say where they are. The blessing will be greater as you search the scriptures for yourself. Ask the Holy Spirit to guide you…he will.
That’s my word for today, saints! May the Lord bless you and keep you!
