Sword Training – Day 26

Hello, my friends. I am thankful for your continued participation in this 40-day challenge. I pray the Lord has been revealing himself to you through his word. As I’ve said many times, the key to any relationship is spending time together. The same is true with God. As you spend time reading his word and praying, you are nurturing your relationship with him and sensitizing your spirit to hear his voice. It’s really rather exciting.

Today’s scriptures are Proverbs 26 and Psalm 121-125. What better scriptures to describe our relationship with the Father!

“I lift my eyes to the mountains – where does my help come from?
My help comes from the Lord, the Maker of heaven and earth.

He will not let your foot slip – he who watches over you will not slumber;
indeed, he who watches over Israel will neither slumber nor sleep.

The Lord watches over you – the Lord is your shade at your right hand;
the sun will not harm you by day, nor the moon by night.

The Lord will keep you from all harm – he will watch over your life;
the Lord will watch over your coming and going both now and forevermore.”

– Psalm 121 (NIV)

These promises were made to Israel. Thankfully, as believers in Jesus Christ we are made part of the house of Israel. Paul describes it best in Romans 11.

“I am talking to you Gentiles. Inasmuch as I am the apostle to the Gentiles, I take pride in my ministry in the hope that I may somehow arouse my own people to envy and save some of them.”

He’s talking about the Jews at this point, hoping that some of them may come to believe as he is preaching to the Gentiles. He goes on to say,

“If the root [Jesus] is holy, so are the branches [the Jews]. If some of the branches have been broken off, and you, though a wild olive shoot [Gentiles], have been grafted in among the others and now share in the nourishing sap from the olive root…”

So, the promises of Psalm 121 apply to us as believers, just as it applied to Israel in the Old Testament. He will watch over your life and watch over your coming and going both now and evermore! That’s the scripture. That’s his promise if you trust in him and follow him.

May the Lord bless you and keep you, my friends!
